Welcome From Our Pastor

In the 1950’s The Elim Pentecostal Church decided to plant this church in the Rhondda. At that time there were scores of churches already in the Rhondda - many here in Porth. However, some 60 years on we can say that God had laid it on Pastor Percy Brewster's heart to 'plant the future' thus the Elim Church Porth was born.

By definition the future is always new - that is new spiritual life (referred to in Scripture as "new wine"). However, first God has to build the 'skin that can hold the new wine.' In the 60 years since its launch the church has experienced much, including two name changes, first, in 1990, it became Porth Christian Centre and latterly the name changed to, The Gatehouse, based on the Scripture found in Genesis 28:17. In 2002 a community transformation vision was birthed, 'Sporting Marvels' now has a full-time workforce of 18 people working in the schools of Rhondda. We teach 4000 children per week and have over 16000 prayer partners.

The past seven years can only be described as a miracle as the Gatehouse goes from strength to strength, with its vision for Sporting Marvels in both Rhondda and East Africa (some 45 of our people have now done mission work in Tanzania). We have taken seriously the directive from God that, 'if we pay the price to transform the few we will eventually transform the many.' The Gatehouse cannot be described as a usual local church with our community transformation vision and strong emphasis on overseas mission we are revolutionary in heart - we are the future that was planted all those years ago.
Off a strong emphasis of the Love commands of God (The Royal Law), we build through a structure of Sunday celebration, strong teaching (our Faith House), Cells (Royal Law Groups) and G4s (Groups of 4). This is complimented with our Funhouse (kids work) plus a strong emphasis on Youth in a church of all ages.
